Yakisoba downs Titan Hardmode!

I am sooooo pleased to announce that Yakisoba has finally down Titan Hardmode!  After 5 days of attempting this insanely challenging Primal!

We have been trying over and over the last few days. Countless of sleepless nights, flared tempers, gil burned, members hearing the BGM repeating over and over in their heads. We knew his skill rotation by heart, but we just kept having little mistakes here and there that wiped us hard.

But today, we knew we were ready. It was time to get even with Titan.

However, it was a rocky start: We first had one of our member disconnected due to lag. So we had no choice but to replace him with another member. We begin the fight, and then after another member lagged out and got disconnected. Worst luck ever. Replaced. We finally got another member in…. and suddenly his house area suffered a BLACKOUT.

Again we had to replace with another member. This was definitely not a fantastic night. Lady luck was not on our side at all.

But we pushed on, and wiped a couple of times before we finally did this run. It was a perfect run. Nobody died. Nobody made any mistakes. It was smooth as hell. Scary as hell. When Titan was just down to his last 5% health, we were silently screaming in our heads to make sure we didn’t mess it up. 4% came and went. 3%. 2%. And finally that last 1%….

Everyone screamed the hell out when we finally got Titan down. It was and incredible feeling. The sense of achievement of taking down a truly challenging boss. It was an incredible moment that we will always remember for the rest of our gaming lives.

Next up, Coil of Bahamut! Wish us luck!

Yakisoba @ FFXIV: AAR

I think I speak for everyone who played the Open Beta of FFXI: AAR last week: FFXIV: AAR is a sleeper hit.

We came in just for fun, and found ourselves immensely enjoying the game far more than what we expected it to be. Having said that, we are definitely encouraging more members to give FFXIV a try and we will be actively playing this MMORPG. Yakisoba will be pulling all the stops and go all the way for this MMORPG. Rollcall for it is up, check our facebook for the link.

  1. Tsubaki
  2. Shader
  3. Kuch
  4. Testarossa

Shader and myself will be running the Yakisoba shard in FFXIV, together with the other officers assisting us. Here’s a little something for all members to understand about the guild system.

Invitation-based chat channels called linkshells (LS) can be used for virtually any purpose, including casual conversation. Characters can be members of up to 8 LSs at a time. Players will be able to browse and chat with all of their LSs at any given moment.

> Yakisoba already has a Linkshell set up in OBT, all members, friends of Yakisoba can be invited to this Linkshell. PM any officers to be added.

Free Company

Players can also join together to form an organization (i.e. “guild”) called a free company (FC). Unlike LSs, characters can only be in one FC. In addition to having a chat channel and shared storage, members of FCs will be able work together to gain free company EXP and credits to earn expanded features and benefits. This includes company-wide bonuses with both low-level and end-game utility. FCs can also obtain customizable crests, which can be put on equipment. Although FCs branch off GCs, there are no restrictions based on allegiance.

 > As soon as Shader or myself reach Lvl 25, we will make a Free Company and all members from the Linkshell will be invited. However, we will be collecting 1,000 gil per member upon joining the guild. All of these money collected will go into the guild fund of buying a FC House.

We will also be pooling money together from all members to buy a House for the guild. When we have more details about the cost, we will let everyone know how much to chip in. It’s great that we will finally have a physical Guild hall in the game, and we are very excited to get it. Learn more about Housing here.

Yakisoba @ Final Fantasy 14 : Reborn

We will be setting up Yakisoba in Final Fantasty XIV: A Realm Reborn. This shard will be headed by Shader (mostly) and Tsubaki and the guild’s direction is a casual. We’re in this game to enjoy the lore, art, music, design, choco-fucking-bos. There won’t be mass recruiting going on, the guild is more for existing Yakisoba members and their friends. We are pretty sure we’ll only be playing it for a couple of months only (FYI game is p2p).

Don’t expect much hardcore raiding or whatever, we have Rift (our hardcore shard) for that. There probably will be some raiding, but we’ll see about that.

If you are interested to join us, you can grab the game off Greenmangaming for $22 if you use the 25% discount coupon (expires 16 Aug): GMG25-OGRUH-7SM8H

Aug 16th: Beta phase 4 begins for phase 3 players.
Aug 17th: Beta phase 4 (open beta) begins for all players.
Aug 24th: Start of Early Access (pre-order reward)
Aug 27th: LAUNCH

We will be playing on Tonberry server.

Yakisoba Retires from Guild Wars 2

I am officially announcing our guild’s retirement from Guild Wars 2. The interest for the game is at an all time low, and none of our officers have the time or interest to continuing maintaining the guild in game. Keitaru is too busy with work to continue organizing bounty events and such.

What this means for all members is that while Yakisoba still exists in game, the management will no longer be running the guild. There will be no more push for events or wvw or anything. There’s no need to farm for influence points. Those still actively playing the game, you are all free to rep and join other guilds (I believe most are anyway).

We all have had a good run, and GW2 has been brought alot of us together and many new friendships has been forged because of GW2. Now it’s time to let it lay to rest. We shall await the next MMO to sweep us off our feets. Perhaps it would be Wildstar or perhaps Blade & Soul or maybe it could just be Pokemon. Who knows.

But if you are looking for an MMO to play with the other members casually, Shader is running Yakisoba over at Neverwinter Online. We also started Yakisoba in RIFT (turning f2p in June) for those interested to play it, I’m still looking for someone to head the guild over there. Do check out the rollcalls for each respective games to add other members.

Yakisoba @ Neverwinter

Neverwinter is a new f2p mmo with a soft launch on the 30th of April. The game itself is very action based, a cross between Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3.

Currently a few of us are testing it, and we quite like the way they done with the cash shop and gem system. For a F2P game there is no artificial boundary that keep you from accessing the shop with playermade gems.

Few of the features are

  • Comprehensive LFG system for all.
  • First MMO the incorporates web-based interaction with game, including guilds chat/event, auction house, professions, foundry.
  • 3rd Person Shooter style gameplay.
  • Telegraphing system found in Tera and Wildstar.
  • Based on Dungeon and Dragon 4rd Edition ruleset, expect all the lore and mechanics to be awesome.
  • And most importantly – Player made content such as dungeon and quest AKA steamworkshop for MMO.
  • Yes there are raids.

Please refer to our recruitment post on the right side for more info. You can also apply to join Yakisoba community by applying on our facebook

Remember we are on the “DRAGON” server.

Changelog to Yakisoba 2013

By golly, it’s been ages since we updated the guild blog! This would be the first post in the year 2013 and we have indeed survived the proclaimed “End of the World”. Though I am 24 days too late, I still would like to wish everyone: Happy New Year from Yakisoba! Hahah.

So anyway, 2 big announcements to all members. We have promoted 2 members to take up officership in Yakisoba and here are the 2 announcements posted on our Facebook page:

On Roufas, our new WvW Officer:

I am pleased the announce that Steven Tan (Roufas) has been promoted to be an Officer of Yakisoba. Roufas has been a WvW Captain for awhile, and has answered the call for a need for new officers.

With his new appointment, he is now a WvW Officer, together with Wilson Chan (Shader) and also has the power to accept and recruit new members.

Please welcome him!

and Keitaru, our new PR/HR/Welfare Officer:

Additionally, I am pleased to announce that Calvin Yio (Keitaru) has been promoted to as Officer as well. He will be incharge of PR/HR/Recruitment, together with Michael Chin (Enzer).

Keitaru is very active in Guild Wars 2, and part of the group of very active players in the guild. He has shown great pro-activeness in assisting in moving the guild over to Jade Quarry, and does not mind stepping up to take up officership in Yakisoba.

As a guild leader, it pains me that I no longer have the luxury to play as long as everyone. But I recognize the importance of having active officers in the guild to serve as my eyes and ears, and to look over issues that may arise within our members. It is important to constantly maintain good relationships with all members part of the Yakisoba family. Keitaru is part of the PR/HR team, and if there are any issues, please do raise it to him and he will inform me.

Please welcome him!

Yakisoba is surprisingly staying strong, with a core group of players actively raiding dungeons, farming for their legendaries, as well as WvW. Also most recently, we have moved our homeserver to Jade Quarry. Our members are still in the process of moving over and we are very happy to be warmly welcomed by the community there, whom we have fought and come to respect in WvW. It is a strange feeling to now take arms along side old an nemesis, but Jade Quarry has always been a brother we all want to kill, but still eventually love. It is an exciting direction to take for the guild in terms of the development of WvW, and keeping it fresh. Unfortunately, this decision has also come with a price. A price of leaving our friends NYS, SYN and SSQ, whom have chosen to leave Stormbluff Isle for Sanctum of Rall instead.

Merody, the leader of NYS left us a farewell message:

When I heard you guys will not come with us to a new server, my tears burn my eyes (real one). Because I know that free transfer is about to close and we cannot fight together anymore. I try to come out from the sadness. Although we are not partners anymore, but NYS always being your friends. Guild Wars 2 is only starting point of our friendship. We want to make a deal with you – Yakisoba. When we get bored in Guild Wars 2, Not Yet Solved will goto play ArcheAge Online. I hope we can play together in the same server, in the future. If you don’t have interest to play. No worries! We will wait for 1 decade,2 decade and finally, lets meet at the endless point of human being’s dream game – Sword Art Online.

If you feel unhappy in the new server, call merody. If you want to come and play with us, call merody and I will pay for you to come.

Have fun and best wishes!

Merody and NYS

I have yet to reciprocate his message and will now take the opportunity to do so in this post:

Dear Merody,

While it pains me to make this decision, it was a necessary choice for our guild moving forward when the paid server transfer kick in. We will not forget the wonderful memories we have forged together with you and your guild, and most certainly we will keep in touch with you. ArcheAge is an interesting MMO choice, but whether or not we will move there when our interest in Guild Wars 2 wanes, only time will tell. But still, may we continue to play different games together and keep the friendship close!

For now, we look forward to seeing you bring SOR to T1, and we look forward to having exciting battles with you and NYS.

Best wishes,

Tsuu and Yakisoba

Wintersday has come!

The next holiday festival event content has been patched in and there is much to do! As usual, Anet doesn’t hold back with their free contents. One can only imagine the expansion for Guild Wars 2.

Check out the main site for details of the event! We will be putting out our boosters all weekend round to help you benefit from it. Happy Wintersday-ing!

The Lost Shores Update

Also there will be special 1-time events that as usual, is in our wee mornings (all 3 events will be held at 4am SG/MY GMT+8 time 17th-19th):

Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:

  • On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well. *On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in. Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:

The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.

Also, the most exciting introduction for PVE lovers are the Fractal of the Mist dungeons. This is a truly groundbreaking dungeon for GW2, and it’s definitely something worth spending time on. Check out a short introduction guide here posted by GW2hub. PCGamesN also posted a guide on the 9 fractals and their individual mechanics. And do Check out some of the available loots available for exchange here.

Looks like it’s going to be an enjoyable upcoming weekend… and WvW attendance is going to take a big hit for sure. Oh why oh why Anet?
