Yakisoba Retires from Guild Wars 2

I am officially announcing our guild’s retirement from Guild Wars 2. The interest for the game is at an all time low, and none of our officers have the time or interest to continuing maintaining the guild in game. Keitaru is too busy with work to continue organizing bounty events and such.

What this means for all members is that while Yakisoba still exists in game, the management will no longer be running the guild. There will be no more push for events or wvw or anything. There’s no need to farm for influence points. Those still actively playing the game, you are all free to rep and join other guilds (I believe most are anyway).

We all have had a good run, and GW2 has been brought alot of us together and many new friendships has been forged because of GW2. Now it’s time to let it lay to rest. We shall await the next MMO to sweep us off our feets. Perhaps it would be Wildstar or perhaps Blade & Soul or maybe it could just be Pokemon. Who knows.

But if you are looking for an MMO to play with the other members casually, Shader is running Yakisoba over at Neverwinter Online. We also started Yakisoba in RIFT (turning f2p in June) for those interested to play it, I’m still looking for someone to head the guild over there. Do check out the rollcalls for each respective games to add other members.

Cheers!

Changelog to Yakisoba 2013

By golly, it’s been ages since we updated the guild blog! This would be the first post in the year 2013 and we have indeed survived the proclaimed “End of the World”. Though I am 24 days too late, I still would like to wish everyone: Happy New Year from Yakisoba! Hahah.

So anyway, 2 big announcements to all members. We have promoted 2 members to take up officership in Yakisoba and here are the 2 announcements posted on our Facebook page:

On Roufas, our new WvW Officer:

I am pleased the announce that Steven Tan (Roufas) has been promoted to be an Officer of Yakisoba. Roufas has been a WvW Captain for awhile, and has answered the call for a need for new officers.

With his new appointment, he is now a WvW Officer, together with Wilson Chan (Shader) and also has the power to accept and recruit new members.

Please welcome him!

and Keitaru, our new PR/HR/Welfare Officer:

Additionally, I am pleased to announce that Calvin Yio (Keitaru) has been promoted to as Officer as well. He will be incharge of PR/HR/Recruitment, together with Michael Chin (Enzer).

Keitaru is very active in Guild Wars 2, and part of the group of very active players in the guild. He has shown great pro-activeness in assisting in moving the guild over to Jade Quarry, and does not mind stepping up to take up officership in Yakisoba.

As a guild leader, it pains me that I no longer have the luxury to play as long as everyone. But I recognize the importance of having active officers in the guild to serve as my eyes and ears, and to look over issues that may arise within our members. It is important to constantly maintain good relationships with all members part of the Yakisoba family. Keitaru is part of the PR/HR team, and if there are any issues, please do raise it to him and he will inform me.

Please welcome him!

Yakisoba is surprisingly staying strong, with a core group of players actively raiding dungeons, farming for their legendaries, as well as WvW. Also most recently, we have moved our homeserver to Jade Quarry. Our members are still in the process of moving over and we are very happy to be warmly welcomed by the community there, whom we have fought and come to respect in WvW. It is a strange feeling to now take arms along side old an nemesis, but Jade Quarry has always been a brother we all want to kill, but still eventually love. It is an exciting direction to take for the guild in terms of the development of WvW, and keeping it fresh. Unfortunately, this decision has also come with a price. A price of leaving our friends NYS, SYN and SSQ, whom have chosen to leave Stormbluff Isle for Sanctum of Rall instead.

Merody, the leader of NYS left us a farewell message:

When I heard you guys will not come with us to a new server, my tears burn my eyes (real one). Because I know that free transfer is about to close and we cannot fight together anymore. I try to come out from the sadness. Although we are not partners anymore, but NYS always being your friends. Guild Wars 2 is only starting point of our friendship. We want to make a deal with you – Yakisoba. When we get bored in Guild Wars 2, Not Yet Solved will goto play ArcheAge Online. I hope we can play together in the same server, in the future. If you don’t have interest to play. No worries! We will wait for 1 decade,2 decade and finally, lets meet at the endless point of human being’s dream game – Sword Art Online.

If you feel unhappy in the new server, call merody. If you want to come and play with us, call merody and I will pay for you to come.

Have fun and best wishes!

Merody and NYS

I have yet to reciprocate his message and will now take the opportunity to do so in this post:

Dear Merody,

While it pains me to make this decision, it was a necessary choice for our guild moving forward when the paid server transfer kick in. We will not forget the wonderful memories we have forged together with you and your guild, and most certainly we will keep in touch with you. ArcheAge is an interesting MMO choice, but whether or not we will move there when our interest in Guild Wars 2 wanes, only time will tell. But still, may we continue to play different games together and keep the friendship close!

For now, we look forward to seeing you bring SOR to T1, and we look forward to having exciting battles with you and NYS.

Best wishes,

Tsuu and Yakisoba

Wintersday has come!

The next holiday festival event content has been patched in and there is much to do! As usual, Anet doesn’t hold back with their free contents. One can only imagine the expansion for Guild Wars 2.

Check out the main site for details of the event! We will be putting out our boosters all weekend round to help you benefit from it. Happy Wintersday-ing!

Also there will be special 1-time events that as usual, is in our wee mornings (all 3 events will be held at 4am SG/MY GMT+8 time 17th-19th):

Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:

  • On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well. *On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in. Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:

The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.

Also, the most exciting introduction for PVE lovers are the Fractal of the Mist dungeons. This is a truly groundbreaking dungeon for GW2, and it’s definitely something worth spending time on. Check out a short introduction guide here posted by GW2hub. PCGamesN also posted a guide on the 9 fractals and their individual mechanics. And do Check out some of the available loots available for exchange here.

Looks like it’s going to be an enjoyable upcoming weekend… and WvW attendance is going to take a big hit for sure. Oh why oh why Anet?

Stormbluff Isle’s incredible underdog charge

Seriously, SBI does not give up and SBI fights hard. I was just informed today we have finally overtaken JQ and BG and we are now leading the race. Not bad considering that we were 3rd from start to mid week. Had to post this very exciting news, now I can’t concentrate at work.

There’s still 2 more days to go and hopefully we can keep up the momentum. I’m very sure JQ and BG will fight hard to close the gap on SBI. This might turn up to be a very nail biting competition. Let’s not rest on our laurels and keep the pressure on for WvW. All Members, now that Halloween is over, it’s time put SBI ahead of the competition!

Titan Alliance ceases operations & Yakisoba’s stance

Titan Alliance shall be ceasing operations as of today. We’ve done what we set out to do, and now it is time.

There are many reasons for this. These range from guilds retiring from the game, guilds moving on to a new server and new challenges, ANet not addressing server transfers and queues and, most importantly, Titan members wanting to help make the game more competitive for the community.

The goal of Titan Alliance was to be the most dominant alliance in Guildwars 2, and that goal has been met. The guilds of Titan all worked together and earned an undefeated 30-0 record, while fighting at the top tier virtually the entire time. Titan was a perfect 7-0 vs the servers of Ascension Alliance and 7-0 vs Stormbluff Isle.

These are the incredible guilds that made it happen: ARMA, DIE, CND, DROW, DTD, ELITE, GIN, LUC, PRX, RMA, SOA, SYN, TRG, TRF, ULTD, YAKI. Champions all and brothers in arms.

Those guilds from Titan that have not retired nor transferred are in the process of deciding their next move in order to seek new challenges. But we feel that, for the good of the game, it is time to move on.

All the members of TA want to thank the community for many epic battles. Hail to you all!

The news of TA disbanding has been going around and I am here today to put an official word for Yakisoba’s stance on this matter. We are glad and proud of being part of an alliance that has truly shown dedication and a sheer level of coordination Guild Wars 2 has ever seen. To constantly have 24 hours around the clock coordination is amazing. We are disheartened that our NA brethren, Condemn has decided to throw the towel in for Guild Wars 2. They have burnt out on this game and will be moving on to another game.  The TA name will go along with them, but the spirit of the alliance will remain here at Henge of Denvari. Some guilds have expressed that they will be moving out of HoD, but Yakisoba will be here to stay.

We are still committed to the defense of HoD, and will still be participating in WvW during our prime time of 8pm -12am (GMT +8). We welcome any players and guilds of HoD to join us and fight along us. Our Commander Shader will be the main man to coordinate with the guilds and pugs alike. However, we will be scaling back our WvW efforts to 4-5 days per week instead of daily to prevent members from being burnt out from WvW. Our operational days will be decided before hand by the officers and captains of Yakisoba.

This weekend, we will go all out and will be fighting actively in the borderlands. For HoD!

Introducing The Yakisoba sPvP Team

I am glad to announce the start of our sPvP teams which is headed by team leaders and overseen by Pain.6478 our PvP officer.

sPvP in Guild Wars 2 is skill based, highly competitive version of the standard Arena Conquest gameplay. It is split between public sPvP with up to 16 players, and premade tournament type consisting of 5 man team, like the 5v5 LoL/DotA ladder.  The objectives in each of map for the current conquest version is the same, get more points than the opponent team. Each of the map have different ways of achieving said points, people who need more info on this should read up on more of this at the official wiki.

In sPvP, everyone will have access to every single exotic sigils and equipment. You will have access to all skills and traits. The only thing that differs you from your opponent is your build and player skill. This makes sPvP easy to jump in and play, but hard to master, which is one of the main criteria as an eSports.

  • For members that are interested in sPvP but doesn’t have a 5 man group yet, please contact Pain in-game for public PvP tryouts where you can try out sPvP and hopefully find a group of players that you can form a 5 man with. This is because in sPvP, each team needs to bond and gel as a united whole, knowing the playstyle of each of your 5 man member is very important in order to play sPvP well. This is unlike WvW where anyone can join any team and just follow instructions.
  • For those that have an unofficial group or a partial group. Please contact Pain with your group information, this is so we can included you in our roster and be eligible for in-house tournament.

Our official group page is at [link], please apply here if you are interested and are already a member of Yakisoba.

Team Structure

We will have multiple team leader in charge of their own sPvP 5 man group.Pain our PvP officer would be overseeing all the groups leaders for tournament play.

Team leaders are the group leaders of the 5 man team, they are in charge of maintaining team morale and standards of play. They will need to come up with strategy and builds for their team, with the support of our PvP Officer and the Yakisoba sPvP Group. Each group indubitably will have different playstyle according to the strength and weaknesses of their members.

In-house Tournament

We will be organizing in-house tournament after we have established a couple of teams and when we feel that each team would give the other a run for the money.

The in-house tournament will feature prizes in the form of Steam Games and In-Game Items. We will add additional prizes as the pool of potential team increases. This will give you somewhat an incentive to play to the best of your abilities.

Team Roster

The team captains and their teams will be published on the right side of the web, and the team itself will also be featured in the facebook group and on the web occasionally.

Our Time is Now

Yakisoba and Titan Alliance in the toughest comeback

Losing to ET with 5.3k points and only 12 hours to go

Yakisoba and TA working hard to close the gap. With 6 more hours to go.
It looks possible, but ET and JQ started to crack our armor and our tension after 6 hours of intense defending.
A glimmer of hope remain.

Shouts of victory and manly tears were shed when we manage to holdout and sustain our dominance.
We passed ET in points at exactly 4:05 AM in the morning.
Our defenders are wearing thin and fatigue plaguing our members.
Luckily we are with Titan Alliance. The NA guild has awaken and started to join in to the fight.
We finally caught a break but are unable to relax, due to the fact that we will lose this tiny lead at any time.

After all the dust has died down, Henge of Denravi has emerged as the winner at the end.
Winning by a 1.3k margin is no small feat especially when you see the points deficit at the start.

I hereby congratulate  all of our members for sticking it in WvW.
Shout out to Zan and his team for the commando move. Bringing down Trebuchets when the time is dire.
Also to our WvW officers Kuch and Cara, where they have push past the fatigue and make sure we held our forts.

Furthermore, i would like to give a shoutout to SYN’s 5 man golem team that took Stonemist by Blitzkrieg.

Lastly to the guilds of Titan Alliance, we have shown the world this is what organized WvW is all about.
