Pre-Guild Wars 2 preparation for Yakisoba Members

The big day is finally coming. The years of waiting, is soon to be over. Guild Wars 2 will launch in 5 days time.

And we have a list of things we need our members to prepare and get ready for launch day itself. It is going to be very very hectic and crazy, but if you follow this list- you’ll be fine.

1. Download and get registered on Mumble.

For those who have not done so, it’s high time you got it ready. Recently we increased our security for mumble and will only let non-registered members stay in 2 channels: Recruitment or AFK Room. To register your mumble nickname, come into mumble and post on our facebook to request for any officer to register you. Once registered, you will have full access to the member level rooms. This is going to be troublesome if you only want to do it on launch, so make sure you get registered earlier. For a small guide and FAQ on Mumble, check this page out.

Mumble is an absolute priority for Yakisoba, and we will only add members into the guild once the game start via mumble.

Also, please add your FB name on your comment so we can identify you better. To do this, first right-click on your nickname and select Change Comment. You may notice some members have banners in their nicknames, we are using this nifty signature generator for it.

 2. Wait for Guild to release homeserver information on Facebook/Mumble

We will only be releasing our finalized homeserver information a few days before the launch. We will not announce on our blog. This is at the request of our alliance. All members please take note that choosing your homeserver is a one time affair. Once you selected a homeserver, you cannot switch (even by deleting all your characters) unless you pay using the gemstone. Arenanet has hinted that there might be free server transfers during the first week, but it’s highly important that you do not choose the wrong server.

We suggest that all members to be present at least on Day 1 headstart to choose their server. All you need is to select your server, and you don’t even have to create your character to be part of it.

In the event of a full server issue: We can only hope and pray that Anet will slowly increase the server cap. Keep checking the homeserver lists, and transfer whenever possible. Those who are affected, I’m afraid you’ve lucked out.

3. Collection of funds on live

Once the server go live, we will need to raise 10 silver to create the guild. To help speed up this process, we require all members to send 50 bronze to Tsubaki or Shader at launch. We will announce our ingame nickname on Mumble, and once we receive your mail, we will add you to the guild. This acts as a mini “entry fee”. 50 bronze is fairly easy to grind for, just do one dynamic event and you will have enough money to send us.

All of the excess fund will go into our guild bank, and will be used only for guild related matters. On our stance of Guild bank, please refer to our white paper.

4. Representing the Guild

Once added to Yakisoba. Please remember to represent the guild. Representing the guild allows you to earn Influence points for the guild whenever you login, complete dynamic events, WvW or PvP. Influence points is used to upgrade the guild and we will get plenty of guild benefits for Yakisoba members. When you make a new character, do remember that by default, you will not represent any guild. So do represent your new character as well.

On top of this, always remember you are representing the guild. Be mindful of how you treat others around you. Everybody in our server are our allies. We will be playing and fighting along side with them. Thank god there is no more Ks-ing to worry about in GW2. Respect everyone, and always maintain and uphold the image of Yakisoba. Never engage in any public smack talks, trollings, flamings in game, or on forums. We take this very seriously and will not hesitate to remove any member damaging the reputation of our guild.

5. Form up parties of 5

It will be good to form up parties of 5 among yourselves to do the PVE contents in this game. It’s faster exp to tag monsters (doing 5-10% damage at least) as a group, as opposed to solo killing. This speeds up your level process in dynamic events and renown hearts quests.

We are hoping that we can get as many members to level 20-30 on the 2nd day so we can start organizing our WvW sessions by the 3rd day.

6. Read up on Guild’s WvW Member Handbook

The handbook can be found on our facebook page document here. Kuch and Cara are our current WvW officers and they will be in charge of the planning and execution of WvW. Other officers may also step in to help with the leading of any organized WvW sessions.

When we conduct any organized WvW sessions, we expect participating members to be on the WvW mumble channel, and to maintain voice discipline. Speak only to alert other of ambushes, out-flanked or backstab. Also, you are expected to listen to orders. If given an instruction to attack or retreat, please listen. Do not run off on your own to do your own thing. We are fighting as a cohesive force, usually against larger numbers so we need all members act together. We are not going to be a zergswarm with everyone doing their own things. WvW is serious business, as the officers will be coordinating with the other alliance officers on the battle.

If you want to run around and do your own thing, do not participate in an organized Wvw session.

7. Have fun

Okay, we seem to have laid down some very serious stuff. But, at the end of the day, remember to have fun!

Even though we starting to sound a bit hardcore, we aren’t! We’re just putting a little seriousness in our game so we can all enjoy better. May Guild Wars 2 be the game that we will reside in for a long time!
