Main mumble is back up!

Mumble is backup! RejoiceJust a quick update! Our main mumble is once again online. New features are as follows.

  • Able to have a priority speaker (Will suppress all other users to 90% volume when he is speaking)
  • 1 way channel links (Probably used as a 1 way communication to wvwvw groups)

Main Mumble down, please use backup!

All members please take note, that main mumble is down.

Shader was trying to upgrading mumble to introduces Priority Speakers, that will suppress all other speakers when talking as well as 1-way channel links.

Unfortunately he broke it and it’s still under repair.

Please use the backup mumble server at backup.yakisobaguild.net thank you!

Yakisoba Recruitment for Guild Wars 2

Yakisoba Guild is still recruiting new members from SG/MY/AUS to join our ranks for Guild Wars 2.

We currently have 110 members rolling with us, and a large number of them are core members whom we have been playing together since 2007. We are a collective of seasoned gamers, and while we do not claim to be hardcore, we certainly had our days when we were. Now that most of us have moved up into the working world and pursuit of a higher education, we no longer have the luxury to be a hardcore guild. But that doesn’t mean we’re a bunch of casuals. We are hardcore.. in our free time.

The best place to read more about us, is on our about page. There you will get a better sensing of who we are. Also, we have a guild carter for Guild Wars 2. Our GW2 White Paper is where we write all of our expectations of a Yakisoba member and the guild’s stance on certain things. It will be more detailed as soon as the game is launched, for now what is written is based on what we know from the past few beta weekends.

If you like what you have read so far, and you think Yakisoba is a suitable guild to your playstyle, then we welcome you to join us. Apply on our facebook group, and once you are accepted, you will be a part of us.

The White Paper

All members, if you have not had the chance to read our guild’s White Paper, please click here to read it. It’s highly important you do so!

Now some of you may ask, what is this White Paper all about? From Wikipedia: A white paper is an authoritative report or guide that helps solve a problem. White papers are used to educate readers and help people make decisions, and may be a consultation as to the details of new legislation. The publishing of a white paper signifies a clear intention on the part of a government to pass new law.

Our white paper is the same, it’s where decisions are made and written into black and white for all members to read and understand. Whenever there are disputes over our ruling, the White Paper is something to help keep in line with all our decisions.

This page will undo updates and become more detailed as the game launches and new key directives are needed for the guild.

With this, we hope all members will be aligned with the guild’s ideals and abide to them. If there are any instances where a member is unhappy about something, they may sound it off and we will look into it. But if you have a problem with everything written, then maybe you’re in the wrong guild! Haha.

Yakisoba Guild Word Cloud

Check out this awesome word cloud of our guild blog.

Click here to download the high-res of photo.

This is a word cloud compilation of our entire blog posts, since it first inception in 2007 until now. Notice a few key words that keeps popping up in the blog? It’s pretty damn awesome the words “Yakisoba” and “Guilds” are aligned so nicely together.

Even “members”, “join” and “facebook”! Something that we have always been reminding everyone. Some members names are even mentioned on it!

Special thanks to Shader for generating this out!

The Birth of our new home!

Welcome welcome welcome!

Welcome to our new Yakisoba Guild blog! After 7 years of dragging our feets and using free hosting, we’ve have decided to “get serious” and get ourselves a domain name and space on the internet. Shader and myself felt it was time to “level up” the guild abit, in lieu of the most amazing and anticipated MMORPG… Guild Wars 2!

I want to thank Shader for helping with the hosting and coding side of the blog, Testa for his CSS coding help and this frees me up with more time to design a new logo for the guild.

And now that we have our official announcement platform for our guild… remember to bookmark us (CTRL-D)!

We’ve also managed to port all the old posts from our previous blog to preserve our legacy, and have categorize them as under “Legacy”. This blog also now reflects the mumble users on the side bar. The mumble links are also clickable, clicking on it will launch your mumble client.

We have also updated our mumble IP addresses:

Main mumble: mumble.yakisobaguild.net

Backup mumble: backup.yakisobaguild.net

The old mumble IP will still work, but it would be better for all members to update to this new IP!

And that’s all for now. And as usual, our main guild communication is via facebook on our facebook group. If you are still not on it, remember to join us!

Quick updates !

Attention all members, the guild survey results are now out on our facebook page. Have a look at it!

Also, I will be posting our guild White Paper soon, and you can all have a read at it.

Lastly, yes we will be part of Titan Alliance. I’ve been speaking to Ritsuko from Synapse for a while, and we should be firming up our commitment to the alliance anytime soon.

Yakisoba Guild accepted into Titan Alliance

Some members may have noticed that the past few days the officers have been busy meeting and planning stuff, and today I am very pleased to announced that we have been officially accepted into Titan Alliance. We had an interview session with the rest of the guilds in the alliance and had a 100% vote of confidence.

With this, we have also sent in our guild’s logo and it will be placed on the alliance website soon.

I will also be updating the guild white paper in due time on some of the Alliance expectations. Do note that from now on, each and every member does not just represent Yakisoba, but also Titan Alliance and it is imperative that everyone does not conduct themselves in an ill manner bring shame to the guild and alliance.

Below is also my foreword address to the members of the Titan Alliance.

Greetings fellow Titan Alliance members,

I am Tsubaki, leader of Yakisoba Guild. On behalf of Yakisoba, I thank you all for accepting us into this alliance. I was unable to make it for this morning interview session, but my officers have updated me and I was told that there was a huge confidence of votes for us. We are very very humbled and pleased at the same time, and we here at Yakisoba hope to contribute to the success of this alliance. And we will especially work very closely with our other SEA brethren, Synapse, since we both play on the same timezone. May the Titan Alliance be a force to reckon with, and may our future homeserver be the pride of WvW community.

May I also take this time to introduce my officers: Shader (Vice Leader), Hype, Kuch, Cara and Enzer. I work very closely with these people and they often will help speak on my behalf when I am unable to be around. We are very excited with this alliance.

Yakisoba Guild has been around since 2007, and we started out as a hardcore guild in Granado Espada. Over the years we have moved from various MMORPGs and have gradually soften our hardcore label due to the most of our core members “leveling up” in real life. We’re still hardcore gamers at heart, but only during our available time. Guild Wars 2 seems like the perfect game for us since it’s not gear that matters but skill. We intend to be a WvW-centric guild, and we look forward to working with everyone in the alliance to pull off high level coordinations. Currently we stand at 120 members intending to roll with us for Guild Wars 2, and we expect to field a good number of seasons PVP-centric players for WvW.

Looking forward to the launch of Guild Wars 2!

Reverting back to the previous mumble IP

All members take note, we are reverting back to our original IP for mumble.

Please switch to yakisoba.pwnation.net.

Thank you!

Change of address for Yakisoba’s Mumble server

New update from Shader regarding our mumble server:

Important Notice :: Moving of mumble server permanently to LA, California.

Server address change – The new address will be yakisoba.pwnation.net.
Gaming proxy – You can use this server as a gaming proxy to reduce ping to NA. Instructions will follow later.

Old server (mumble.pwnation.net) is on a atom270 server. New one is on a XeonC2770. Will be deprecating the old one pretty soon.

Good news for all members is that this new host will allow us to tunnel into LA side, and hopefully near where Guild Wars 2 servers might be. Think of this as a free proxy for all members =)
