Resurrection

Hi all. It’s been an awfully long time since I posted here, and well I’m finally back to breath life into this blog. We will be updating this blog more frequently, so do check back often. Just for the outside community as well as former members information, Yakisoba is still very much alive and kicking. We are all holed up in our private forums, slowly plotting to dominate another game. Haha, okay maybe not. Most of us have pretty much moved on to higher education, work and such. Myself for example have been very fortunately to graduate and work for Eric Khoo, a local filmmaker.

A handful of us are still keeping the yakisoba forums alive with updates on the latest games and personal lives with occassional ghosts returning to drop a link to another game before disappearing. Just to show how deep the yakisoba bond runs among us, two of our members recently got attached and we all wish them the very best in their relationship.

Currently myself and a few other members are playing Atlantica Online, a turn-based MMO where you can control up to 9 players. If you think Granado Espada was already hard with 3, then this game will blow you away. Hahah. Atlantica Online also comes with a very complex economical system and we love it a lot here. It’s currently in CBT now, and they are wiping soon. But we’ll definitely be returning to this game.

I’ll stop here for now, don’t want to burn out by starting with a TLDR post.

Yakisoba’s up in Cabal

yakisobaupupup.jpg

Aye, I must admit we are a little slow this time round, only because everyone’s not exactly very free (with the exception of our dear PES E Jiren aka Renji (GE), who is now the leader.

But it’s great in the sense that 17 former members (and more to come) have all returned together to play Cabal. That itself is quite a feat since the former yakisoba spirit already exist within the guild. We’re still deciding whether we should go active competitively, so we aren’t exactly going to mass recruit people.

But if you’re still interested to join us, and is quite a grinder, pm Tsuu. And I can’t believe someone actually stole the Tsubaki name and made it into a mule character. Sonofabitch.

Oh, we are all now playing on Chan 24. Catch us there.

Yakisoba @ Cabal Online (SEA)

cabalyakisoba500.jpg

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since this dead blog has been updated, but fret not. It will be updated more often now, since that we have decided to move to Cabal Online (SEA). That’s right, the Yakisoba that you see in Cabal Online is the official Yakisoba guild. As usual, we’re moving towards competitive gameplay once again and interestingly, the early stages of this game have seem to already spark to rival factions (reminding me of the good ol’ Dominion vs Yakisoba saga).

Just a couple of changes in the leadership, Tsubaki will not be the leader in Cabal, instead, Lun4r aka Testarossa (GE) aka Feito (TF2) (omfg, you should just stick to one damn nick bitch) will be helming the guild. Tsubaki will be incharge of recruitments and updates of the blog as usual.

Our recruitment notice can be found here on the community forum (which Tsubaki can’t post because his account hasn’t been accepted by moderators).

And here’s our list of members

I daresay we have quite a large number of the high level players around. While this is just the CBT, we believe it’s always good to grab your people when it’s early =)

We’ll see you guys in OBT.

More Team Fortress 2 details

Alright, quite a number of us have moved to Team Fortress 2, and we’re hoping more of you will pick up TF2 because it’s just mind blowing fun. Here’s more details for those who want to pick a copy up.

How to get it
You can purchase the Orange Box set from either Steam which you will immediately be allowed to download and play. You get 5 games (HL2, HL2 ep1, HL2 ep2, Portal and TF2 for the price of SGD$66.

or

Purchase just the standalone Team Fortress 2 game from Steam for SGD$44.

or

Buy the Orange box set from retail outlets. SGD$79 plus minus

In my opinion, buying the Orange Box is better even though you may not like to play HL2. However, Portal is amazingly fun and it’s pretty much worth getting. HL2 itself, is a pretty good game and when you want a different environment and pacing, that’s one game you can play.

Recommended servers
SG servers have the best ping obviously, but the worst players. Me and testa always play on the JP servers because it’s much better there, and plus the ping for those in the West and Asia is acceptable (100ish ping). Here are some of the JP servers

Team Fortresss 2 Beginner’s Server [JP]: 219.117.192.15:27015
[JP] 100Yen Server: 121.3.92.215:27015
[JP] 200Yen Server: 121.3.92.215:27016
[JP] Hanage Japan TF2: 222.13.114.39:27015
[JP] W.K.T.K. TeamFortress2: 219.121.89.11:27015

We are moving to Team Fortress 2

tf2_screen01.jpg

That’s right. A couple of us have moved/will be moving to the newly launched Team Fortress 2, which is incredibly fun and addictive. The gameplay is just pure insanity, lots of killings, capturing point or flags and a lot of laughter. The graphics are pretty awesome too, it’s like the original Team Fortress Classic meets Pixar Animation. Voice acting in this game is uber hilarious, especially when you taunt people.

We have also formed up Yakisoba on the Steamcommunity, membership is now open to those who want to join us over at Team Fortress 2.

For those who want to know more about Team Fortress 2, read on for screenies and commentary below! And go watch the game trailers here!

Leaving GE and Yakisoba’s disbanding

sayonar.jpg
Good Bye, Yakisobans.

I am sad to announce that due to commitments in school, I will be unable to continue playing GE on a regular basis and will be taking a long break from it.

For all members, I’ve written more details regarding my departure from this game, and this fantastic faction on the forums, so please read about it here. I know this is a very sudden decision, but some of you are already aware of my situation and how it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with my final year diploma and GE at the same time.

Yakisoba will also be disbanding soon. The disbanding will be a slow process as we slowly iron out certain issue. I want to make sure everything is properly settled before I leave, and thus here is the future plan for all Yakisoba members who still wishes to stay together in contact.

I also want to thank the many Yakisoba supporters who have quietly come up to me and encourage us to continue achieving things. Thank you. While it is sad that things have to end up this way, I think it is the best for all since it is unfair for Yakisoba to go on without a leader.

3 Cheers to Yakisoba. Thank you for surviving the odds for 6 months, since the start of CBT till now.

Baron King and his Baron Toys

baronravana.jpg

Angel Bear hereby presents RavaNa with his new Baron toys: The Revanants, the Wheel of Destiny and the Coffin.

Number of people killed: Unknown. Well, he’ll definitely piss off some players for baroning them, but hey, it’s for a quest. Blame the creators of Granado Espada for coming with such a idea. I’m not sure whether he went around baroning people in his croc suit, but it would be really funny if he did so.

But anway, congrats to RavaNa. And the big pocket hole too. Those plate mails and fanatic costumes must have cost a bomb. To know more about Baron items, check out RCM Hrin’s blog for details.

Yakisoba Zoo + Superb Deals

animalfarm.jpg

And I’m not kidding.

We’ve got a zoo full of bears and crocs ever since the IAH allowed players to input their GP. A number of people went for the Pioneer Package and got the super addictive Andre Boxes. Did I mention how much money I blew on that crazy box? The items that it drops is just superb.

Oh and since we’ve got all of these animals, we’re in the process of making short 4komas. Probably a collab story between RavaNa “CrocVaNa” and Tsubaki “TsuBearKi”. Enjoy the the love making scene:

animalove.jpg

Also, we discovered a really awesome promotion that Singtel mobile users get to enjoy- Buying GP via SMS. Do note that this is only for Singaporeans. Details can be found here. It’s SGD$9.90 for 30 days and SGD$24.90 for 90 days. And there’s also a 20% extra bonus point to get if you buy it during this promotional period. I’ve personally tested it and it works, and it’s instantaneous. Definitely much faster (not to mention the extra 20% points) than buying GP from Gameshop.sg.

Just make sure you control your spending, or you’ll be receiving a really hefty mobile phone bill at the end of the month. I’ve already added 42637 to my address book… god knows how much I’ll spending soon.

Boxset Advantage

bearhunting.jpg
It’s the start of the bear hunting season.

Word got in that those who bought their limited edition boxsets will be able to use their points today. Go top it up here.

It’s good news for everyone that paid money for a game that was still in beta. And you will have the option to choose either 180 days + 30k GP or just 35k GP. An advice to all members would be to go with the 180 days + 30k GP package. Calculations and further discussion can be found here.

While you are busy planning on what to buy with your 30k, remember to buy TEH BEAR SUIT! LOL.

Yakisoba Updates: Colony War, New Understandings, Bears!

190807cw1.jpg

I apologize for the lack of updates. The new 2.1.18 patch has brought in plenty of new content to keep us busy, even reviving some of dead members back into the game. The new offerings of Veteran modes and stances have wet our appetites for this game, and we are a all set to race to the top once again. Looks like we won’t be step down competitively any time soon.

And now that I’ve managed to steal some time of Granado Espada, here’s a couple of updates.

The last Colony War saw the revival of the Yakisoba spirit, going all out with our attacks and securing 5 colonies after a 2 hour grueling battle against the Republican alliance. We’ll slowly shift the face of the map back into the hands into the Royalists, and we welcome factions to join us in this battle. We also like to thank our allies who have lend their arms with us.

Also, after having a series of discussion with Dominion’s leader Lezard, we have come to a common understanding that the war between Yakisoba and Dominion must go on, in order to constantly keep the competition going in the server. Without this competition, it makes this game boring.

Matters regarding bosses, locations, etc will be fought for, all in the name of healthy competition. We’ve both agreed to keeping this competition clean and free from underhand moves. However, we’ll draw the lines of sending members to attack lower level members while they train. With this in place, we hope it will end the unnecessary politics that is going on.

I expect all Yakisoba members to uphold this new understanding we have with Dominion. You’re still free to decide whether you want to attack them on sight or not, retaliate when killed or not, and likewise it will be the same for themselves. But however, please refrain from smacktalks.

This starts effectively from now. Please do not take past feuds into account. Thank you.

190807cw2.jpg

And, most people should have noticed by now that Yakisoba has a mascot bear running around the streets of Auch! This bear is otherwise known as the “Flying Angel Bear” or sometimes transformed into the “Ressing Angel Bear”. It pretty much reflects how awesome bears are.

Support the Angel Bear. Buy a Bear Costume. Did I mention how funny it looks when your Scouts wears it and runs around in dual dagger stance? Hahaha. It’s completely hilarious.

And no, IAHgames has not paid me in any way to promote this awesome bear.
